Master George Bierman,Team Coach, and Bryant Brown and Cody Miller, competitiors, have returned from the International Martial Arts Festival of Free Russia in St. Petersburg,Russia. They did very well representing Goshin Overseas. Cody Miller won three gold medals and Bryant Brown captured two silvers and a bronze in the martial arts event which drew 4,778 competitors from about 38 countries. Cody and Bryant were the only two American contestants. Congratulate them when you see them.

Clinic Date Set:

Goshin Clinic date will be September 9th at the YWCA from 11 - 2. There will be an Emphasis on Basics. More information to follow as time gets closer.

Tournament news:

On Saturday March 18th the Altoona Karate Classics were held in Altoona, Pa. Master George Bierman placed first in Kata and Third in Weapons in the Black Belt Division. Bryant Brown placed First in Kata and Third in Kumite in Young Men's Black Belt Division. Rachel Metzger won three First Places in Kata, Weapons and Kumite and also won the GRand Championship in Kata in Junior Black Belt Division. Cody Miller placed First in Kata and Kumite and Second in Weapons in 10 yr old Brown Belt Division. Bryan Patel placed Second in Kata and A Third in Kumite in 9 year old purple Belt Division.

On Saturday April 8, 2006 Young’s Spring Karate Tournament was held in Bellefonte, PA. Master George Bierman captured three first places in Weapons, Forms and Kumite in the Exec Black Belt Division. He also won Grand Champion of Forms. Gary Stebbins placed first in forms and Kumite in the Senior Black Belt Division and won Grand Champion in Sr. Kumite. Master Jerry French won a second place in forms and a third place in kumite in the Sr. Black belt division. Raymond McGuniess placed second in kumite and third in forms in the executive black belt division. Ryan Brague took a first in forms and a first in kumite in the Jr black belt division. Bryant Brown placed first in both forms and kumite and second in weapons in the black belt heavy weight division. He also was awarded the most improved student award from Grand Master Joe Brague. Ryan Patterson took a third in forms in the light weight black belt division. William Lundy captured a first in forms and a third in kumite in the Sr. purple belt division. Cathie Rosenberg won a first place in forms in the Sr. white belt division. Cody Miller took first place in Weapons and kumite and a second in forms in the 10 year old brown belt division. Michael Sheets won a second place in weapons in the 14 year old brown belt division. Davison Ludwikowski won third places in weapons and kumite in the 10 year old brown belt division. Josh Vonada captured a second place in the 12 year old purple belt division. Brian Patel took a first in forms and a second in weapons in the 10 year old purple belt division. Paul Pastore placed third in kumite in the 12 year old purple belt division. Michael Pastore placed first in kumite and second in forms in the 9 year old purple belt division. Erica Ludwikowski placed third in kumite in the 7 year old green belt division. Cody Schamberg took a third in weapons in the 10 year old green belt division. Jessica Kreger won a third place in the 7 year old green belt division. Kamran Shams won first places in weapons and forms in the 5 year old yellow belt division. Rhiallie Jessell took a first place in kumite in the 6 year old yellow belt division. Ivy Waldron placed third in forms in the 9 year old yellow belt division. Jeremy Street took a second in kumite and a third in forms in the adult white belt division. Mary Kathryn Fitzpatrick medaled in forms in the 10 year old yellow belt division. Ross Stebbins won a first place in kumite in the 6 year old white belt division. All the students were from Grand Master Joe Brague’s school in Williamsport, PA.

Grand Master Joe Brague receive two awards. Most Supportive school and the most Team point awards. Master Jerry Lepley received an award from Master Brague as the most supportive school.

Robert Watson of Jerry Lepley’s school in Jersey Shore, PA won a second place in kumite in the 15 year old purple belt division.

Danielle Douglas placed first in Fighting Second in Kata in Womens Brown Belt Division. Brittney Woodruff placed first in kumite the Junior women’s brown belt division. Dane Woodruff captured a second in kumite in the children’s brown belt division. Kira McGroarty placed first in Kata and competed in the Grand Championship round in the children’s brown belt division. All were students of Master Clair & Karen Blacks school in Dushore, PA

Chris Shatto placed second in forms and kumite in the purple belt division. Randy Shatto placed second in weapons and kumite in the Sr .purple belt division. David Aderhold placed first in forms in the adult white belt division. Ben Sechrist took a second in forms in the 15 year old green belt division. Todd Sechrist placed first in forms in the 14 year old green belt division. They were all students of Jeff Bell in Linden, PA.
