MEMORIAL TO
PIERRE A. TZOMES


 

     Pierre A. Tzomes, 50 , Member of Goshin Jutsu Association died at his residence on Tuesday, November 13, 2001. He was born November 14, 1950, in Williamsport the son of James C. and Charlotte Hill Tzomes.
     He was a graduate of Williamsport High School. He his survived by a brother, C.A. "Pete" Tzomes, Moline, IL and a nephew, Chacellor Tzomes of Sacramento, CA. Graveside services were held at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery, Pa.
   Pierre registered in Goshin on 5-11-1973.
He tested for his Shodan on 2-13-1978.
He was well liked and always will be remembered for his smile and great attitude.
He was always there to help new students when he was at class. He will be greatly missed.

NATIONAL CLINIC
HELD SUNDAY 16TH

     On Sunday September 16th Goshin gathered at their annual clinic in Williamsport, PA at the YWCA. After a moment of silence to remember the victims and their families the Clinic began with karate aerobics. Afterwards Grand Master Brague instructed everyone on submission holds.
Clinic participants were futher instructed on the fine points of kata performance by Master Nick Bender.
   Some Kyu Ranks were tested for their next belt at the clinic. Information will be added 
when it becomes available.
   Also on Sunday September 16th  Goshin Jutsu Karate accepted into the Black Belt Registry  new Black Belts.  Their names were Lou Cupiccia, James Driver, Rebecca Eck, Brad Hart, Shawn Morehart, Micheal Petro and Ed Williams. See the Black Belt Registry page for all the names of current Black Belts. There were also some promotions within the Black Belt ranks of Goshin Jutsu Karate. Information will be added as it is made available. There were also promotions to Master Rank at the National Clinic. The  new Go-Dan Masters are  : Jeff Bell, Michele Brague, Karen Black, Major Ken Lewis, and Ron Wright. See the Master Registry for all the ranks and names of the Masters of the Goshin Jutsu Karate Association.

   Master Jeff Bell has been given permission by Grand Master Brague to aid the Red Cross by selling USA FLAG patches . The flag patches are to be worn on the left upper arm of uniforms of both instructors and students. Patches are for sale for $5.00. GEORGE BIERMAN WINS ...

On Sunday October 21st
the Dynasty Fall Invitational Karate Tournament was held in Leighton, Pa. George placed first in Forms and second in Weapons and Kumite all in Black Belt Division. He also won overall Grand Champion in Forms.
Way to go George !

ALTOONA KARATE CLASSIC RESULTS

On Saturday October 20th in Altoona, Pa Goshin was represented by Lauren Cooper and Brad Hart. Brad Hart placed Second in Forms and Third in Weapons in Junior Black Belt Division. Lauren Cooper captured t wo first places in Forms and Kumite in the 13-15 Green Belt Division.

   If there is any Black Belt Member who has moved or has a new phone number please contact Grand Master Brague. There are a handful who have moved and left no forwarding address. We have no way to contact them.

GOOD RESULTS IN BELLFONTE ...

On Saturday October 13th Lenny Young held his Annual Fall Tournament in Bellfonte, Pa. There were many winners from among the ranks of Grand Master Brague's students. In the Black Belt Division Paula Schall captured a First in Weapons. She also took First in Forms in Womens Black Belt Division. Rebecca Eck placed Second in Womens Black Belt Forms,  Third in Black Belt Weapons and Second in Kumite in Womens Black Belt Division. See bottom photo.
    In the Junior Black Belt Division there were two winners from Goshin. Donald Justice,II placed First in both Weapons and Forms and Brad Hart captured Seconds in Forms and Weapons. See top photo.
   Rank winners were Lauren Cooper who took First in Forms and Kumite in 13-15 Green Belt Division. Micheal Sheets placed Second in Forms in Childrens Green Belt Division. Students from Jeff Bell's School were Jesse Bell who placed First in Kumite and Third in Forms 10-12 Green Belt. Jacob Bell placed First in Kumite and Second  in Forms.  Brandon Gardner captured a Second in Kumite in the same division.  Black's Dojo was represented by Dane Woodruff who won a First Place in Forms in Childrens White Belt Division.
